Hon. J.D. McGregor

J.D. McGregor was a prominent breeder and importer of Aberdeen Angus cattle who played a leading role in the organization of the Canadian Aberdeen Angus Association.

He was a man of vision who recognized the need for expansion in cattle production in western Canada. His Glencarnock herd provided the foundation stock for many of the Angus herds in the west.

Mr. McGregor was one of the few Canadians to win Grand Championship Honours in the steer classes at the Chicago International, a feat that he accomplished on two occasions.

His contribution to the general welfare of his adopted province was recognized in 1929 when he was appointed to the position of Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba.
